Winter Storm Alfred

Well, our winter storm is over! Now we have to focus on getting power restored and trees cleaned up. This storm was worse than Hurricane Irene. We got 13 inches of snow, and most of it melted today from the sun! There are a lot of people without power, and it is hard to get places because there are so many trees and power lines down. Church was cancelled today. My parents are without power at their house. They lost power about 6:00 PM Saturday Night, and they have been told that they could be without power for 2-3 weeks. I stopped by today, and its pretty cold at the house! Thankfully, we did not lose power at our apartment. I went for a little drive around town this afternoon and took a bunch of random pictures.

This picture was taken yesterday afternoon just as the storm was getting bad! It was taken looking out our kitchen window looking up the hill towards church.

In this next picture, my brothers and dad made this little "cover" for the maple tree. Last winter, this tree broke in half with all of the snow. We replaced it in the spring, and since we didn't want it to get crushed again, they built a little shelter for it and it worked!

Thankfully, church had no damage!

Hide and Seek

I was home the other night to do laundry,
and Zoe decided she wanted to play hide and seek:

Here she was on the lookout for me coming:

Found her!

Fall Birthday's

After our "little" snowstorm last night, and hearing about our possible 6-10 inches tomorrow, I figured I better get this post up!

A few Sunday nights ago, we got together with my mom's family to celebrate our fall birthday's.

Seth & Logan turned 16!

Mom was in charge of dessert:

Didn't she do a good job?!

We also celebrated Brian's birthday:
( I don't remember what was so funny in this
picture but everyone seems to be laughing...)

It was also Uncle Bob's 60th birthday. So, as soon as the dessert was being prepared, Uncle Bob disappeared and was gone for about 10-15 minutes. He thought he was being sneaky. Well, we all noticed. So when he came back, we acted like we hadn't noticed and let him sit back down and get all comfortable. Then appeared the cake with the big 60. We definitely surprised him!

Lastly, a picture of Gram:

Silent Night

So, for those of you who don't live around here,
I thought I'd let you know what's happening in CT right now...

It's Snowing!!

This next picture is my favorite. It's so peaceful!

Silent night! holy night! All is calm, all is bright
'Round yon virgin mother and Child!
Holy Infant, so tender and mild,
Sleep in heavenly peace, Sleep in heavenly peace.

Silent night! holy night! Shepherds quake, at the sight!
Glories stream from heaven a-far,
Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia;
Christ, the Savior is born, Christ the Savior is born.

Silent night! holy night! Son of God, love's pure light
Radiant beams from Thy holy face,
With the dawn of redeeming grace,
Jesus, Lord at Thy birth, Jesus, Lord at They birth.
