Every year, my grandfather buys my mom and her 3 sister's flowers for Valentine's Day. My dad was impressed, so he started the tradition numerous years ago with me and my sister! And every year, he buys me red roses because those are my favorite. This year, however, no red roses were being displayed like these roses, so he chose these instead. Although he apologized for no red roses, I still love him and think they are very pretty :)

Blizzard Colbie & Influenza A
Last week was a somewhat eventful week. Monday morning, I woke up with a head cold. I had no symptoms on Sunday, just woke up like that on Monday. I went to school and work, but ended up being sent home early from work because my super nice boss knew I wasn't feeling well. As I was leaving work, it started snowing. It snowed all night and all day Tuesday. Meanwhile, I was knitting non-stop as I was trying to finish this hat!
Since dad was still very sore from his accident, he was told that he couldn't do any shoveling! Well, that left us kids with the task. So we bundled up and out we went!
So much snow! We ended up with 15" at our house.
Kiwi loves the snow!
Meanwhile, by Tuesday afternoon/evening, I was really not feeling good. In fact, I was feeling terrible. I took my temperature and it was 102*. I am prone to having pneumonia, so I had mom listen to my lungs, thinking that was what was wrong. However, she said they were clear. I went to bed with not much thought about it.
The next morning, mom suggested I go to the doctor, just to get checked out. Now, I was quite surprised she suggested this, usually she is the one to say that it will eventually go away. I called the doc and they were able to squeeze me in that afternoon. So I went, and once I was in a room, the nurse came in and said she wanted to do a flu swab. She did, and told me that they usually take about 15 mins for the results to show, and that the dr wouldn't be in until after that. I am not even kidding, the dr came in like 3 minutes later. She walked in and all she said was "You have the flu. There is absolutely no doubt about it." I was a little shocked. I've never had the flu, and I did get the flu shot. Apparently, Influenza A, which is the most severe type of the flu, is not covered by the flu shot!
I was sent home with instructions that I could not leave my house until Tuesday (tomorrow!). So it's been a very long week. I haven't been able to sleep at night, so I've been getting up to knit by the light of our pellet stove!
All the snow did make for some pretty sunsets the past few days!
I finally started feeling better this past Saturday. Tomorrow I will be able to leave the house! I am definitely not 100% better, but I'm not stuck on the couch either! I've never had the flu before, and I was very surprised with how weak I became. So far, no one else in my family has any symptoms!

Dad - Accident with Jetta
This past Friday (1/23), dad was in an accident with the MCM Jetta, his work car. To make a long story short, it wasn't his fault. The other driver tried to turn left in front of dad, at the very last minute. They hit head on. Dad was taken to the ICU Trauma Center in Providence, Rhode Island as a result of him hitting his head. He ended up being just fine, just very sore, abrasions on his forehead and cheek, and a cut on his left ear. It certainly made for an exciting weekend though!
Here's the jetta:
In this picture, you can see the front windshield cracked where dad hit his head.
Dad works for MCM Fundraising which is a Butter Braid company. He was delivering samples to prospective customers, so he had quite a few fresh baked butter braids in the car. When they went to see the car yesterday, dad said the butter braids are all over the car!
This is the other car, a Toyota Rav.

Well, hello New Year!
Happy New Year everyone! Can't believe its already 2015! And its been a long time since I blogged. So far this year has gone pretty smoothly! I guess thats a good thing :) I've enjoyed my winter break, I haven't done a lot, but it's been really busy and has flown by!
School starts on Monday, and its my last semester! I am looking forward to being done in May. I have received a lot of questions as for what I will be doing once I graduate in May. Honestly, at this point, I have no idea! My goal is to just get a full time job. We will see how it all unfolds!
